I must admit, I had some reservations about publishing this piece. Loss is no laughing matter. The current societal obsession with thanatos is of grave personal concern as I accelerate into my declining years. Nonetheless, I thought, if we can't laugh in the face of death, the gift of laughter is somehow diminished.
